As fall is now in full sweater swing, I’m thinking about Christmas already, which makes me think of shopping. So naturally I’m wishing of all the fall essentials I would love to buy. Right now I’m really into the big, slouchy sweater, and what I call, the sweater shirt. The “sweater shirt” is a thin sweater, you may just want to throw a lace tank under, it is meant to be slime and sleek. I also love a big cable knit cardigan, ya know like grandpa would wear. A big button for closure but meant to wear open is my favorite style! Pair these all in jewel tones of deep greens, oxblood and rose gold and OMG, I get weak in the knee.

I say it so often, but Target is such a great place to get fall essentials, and some special pieces for not too much at all. Like I’ve also said in the past, they do designer guest collections all the time and some of those dresses and shirts (this was summertime ish last I saw) wear fabulous!

Ahh, the shirt sweater <3. This one is from H&M, which is most likely one of my favorite stores. Their clothing is always on trend, they have at least three different collections, and their quality is amazing for their completely affordable prices. All of my work button ups are from there, and so many pencil skirts and tops I wear every day, especially to work I’ve gotten from them. My closet is literally 70% H&M, they should have their own post now that I think of it. From my basic button up sweaters, to some really special dresses, I’ve never paid more than $39.95 for any single item I’ve purchased, and the compliments I’ve received are endless. This store is really amazing for young professional women who need work wear and party fare, and can’t afford to pay to look like it. H&M really does take care of the latter, they look so expensive, their fabric is top quality, and they are both classy and very fun! I adore this store.
& Now for some retail torture ❤

A Diet Rich in Accessories!

Hello lovely readers!

I think accessories are really a gals (or stylish mans) best friend! You can turn a knock around dress into a knockout dress with simple and price appropriate accessories! And, If you’re really savvy you can even update purses and shoes with a few inexpensive finds at any AC Moore or Michael’s, a little super glue or a glue gun and voila! You now have a new item recycled from old for next to nothing and the update is now more you and much more special.

Colored tights are probably my favorite fall accessory. They are all usually made from the same material, so a higher end brand vs. bottom of the barrel store doesn’t even matter. A DKNY pair and a Target pair are exactly the same. I like to get mine at Kohl’s, JC Penny, Target, TJ Maxx, any of those stores offer a good selection and usually a sale price, especially depending on the season. I have to wear opaque, so if that’s the only challenge, you ladies are lucky!

Scarves are another way to take your look in a different direction. A  t-shirt , jeans and boots combo pop and are taken to a slightly higher level when you throw on a stylish or printed scarf. I like mine wrapped twice, so I can actually stay warm and don’t hide my outfit, but enhance it.  Adding a scarf to a dress is also a great way to be a little more casual yet still occasion appropriate, such as at the office. I love getting all my silk scarfs at vintage shops in The Village and the rest usually at Forever 21 or H&M, even the intricate and fancy or silky ones still run below $20, usually around $10 – $15 in my experience, which is possible on ANY budget!

JEWELRY! Usually it is a man’s bestie I’ve found, what else will he get you for birthdays, holidays, sorry-I-was-a-jerk-days?  But I sure do looove my costume jewelry! I usually make my own necklaces, but I have really established a love for long and dangly earrings. I used to shy away from them because my ears are currently gauged at 5/8 and I thought it was too much, but I’ve found it’s not the case at all. I don’t do real jewelry ever aside from one bracelet and two rings I wear every day.  So right now, I’m really digging the look of one large statement bracelet or a lot of bangles and delicate wristlets, especially when you mix the two! Depending on how detailed my shirt is I also love the look of layering necklaces, I wear a tiny arrow gold necklace every day and sometimes throw on one or even two more necklaces. I love the line it gives your collar and neckline. Usually I don’t want to overdo it so normally it’s a pendent necklace plus my arrow one. I’m very petite with a tiny frame, so I try not to wear too much at once.  I have also recently really been attracted to broaches’ lately. Clip one on a sweater, tie up your silk scarf with one, or slip it through a chain for a pendant necklace. They are so versatile, and when I have a plainer outfit or one with an odd neckline, I love to jazz it up with a broach, or even change the neckline all together by simply ruching it as I attached the pin on.

I could say sooo much more about accessorizing, I was going to add boots too! But, I think that deserves it’s own post, eh? 😉

Stay beautiful, smart, and saving!
